My Mission
My family taught me the importance of giving to others. Despite not having money to spare, they always found a way to give, share and listen to whomever needed an extra hand or a good friend. Their belief in sacrifice and generosity became the model for my life.
Now, I am on a mission to help people through the most challenging times of their life. I believe that reading is not only a source of entertainment but also a way to learn, grow, and connect with others. My stories can shock and surprise but they also illustrate the far--reaching and enduring power of hope, courage and love.
Our Story
“For us, the tale of David and Goliath was more than a story of a boy taking on a giant. For us, it was a way of life. We knew that adversity was inescapable. It presented itself all through our lives. We knew that Goliath could and would show up at any moment in any form. Rather than run from adversity, we decided to develop a relationship with it. We thanked Goliath and made him noble because without that adversity, we wouldn’t have known what was inside of us. While others cried, we moved forward. We learned that adversity was noble because it didn’t take from us; it gave. It was the most generous and benevolent teacher we would ever encounter. Without adversity, we would have never learned how strong, creative, and resilient we were. Without adversity, we would never have seen the weakness, corruption, and criminality in humans. Without it, we would have never learned to forgive. As Goliath grew, we grew.”
The Journey
Thank Goliath is a story that takes place over sixty years. It travels through the extremes of life and terrain. Regardless of the situation, my mother and I seemed to be in a competition for who could cheat death the most often. We went through death threats, terminal diagnosis, blindness, encounters with the Russian mafia, coup attempts, suicides, murder, fraud, corruption and several induced comas. One way or another, we persevered. Each time, we began by thanking the giant that stood in our way.
